What types of wood flooring are available?
There are three types of hardwood flooring; Engineered, Solid, and Long strip; each manufactured differently provide a slightly different advantages from one another. Engineered and Longstrip are made very similar to each other made with layers of plywood that give them better stability and allows people with slab or concrete subfloor to have Engineered Hardwood. Solid Hardwood give the owner a flooring that will last for generations and the ability to Sand and Finish as many times as you need. Please call us or visit one of our showrooms and one of our specialist will show and explain the key differences to ensure you have the flooring that’s right for you.
What is the difference between pre-finished and unfinished hardwood floors?
Pre-finished flooring receives the aluminum-oxide, UV treatment, Staining, and finish in the warehouse where the product is being manufactured. The Unfinished hardwood is exactly as it reads; the material is strictly the wood itself, we then install the raw material after installation is completed that’s when the stain and finish is applied. Yes, Sand on sight takes longer and is more intrusive but it allows you to have a customized look and gives you the best results if you already have existing Hardwood and are trying to match the new hardwood with the existing.

Are wood floors appropriate for any room in the house?
No, you would never install hardwood floors in a full-bathroom; the manufacturer’s warranty would be voided the moment the flooring is installed in the bathroom. Hardwood flooring is installed primarily at or above ground for the same reason why you would not install in full bathroom, to avoid any possible exposure to water. Before
Before the installation can start, the hardwood flooring should be acclimated; allow the wood to sit in the areas its being installed for 3-5 days before installation. Once the wood is ready to be installed, all items in the rooms being done, need to be removed. This includes all furniture, curtains, and personal affects that could be in the way of removing the existing flooring and installation of the new. During the installation your professional installer will update you on the timeline for completion.
During
With flooring what occurs during the installation process depends on which technique is used to complete the installation. Methods of installation include
- Nail Down Flooring
- Staple Down Flooring
- Glued Down Flooring
- Floating Flooring
With the Nail Down Flooring a nail gun is used to secure the solid hardwood to the sub-floor; the same can be said for the staple down except instead of nails staples are used. If Sanding and finishing occurs you can expect fine dust and noise to be present. Your installer can give you further detail on what to expect during the installation process as well.
